I’m certified to teach Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Earth & Space Science in Kansas.

I currently teach 9th grade physics (using a variation on Physics First from the Modeling Physics universe), 12th grade physics, and IB Physics SL (11th-12th grades).  I also coach a FIRST robotics team.

Next year our school will be trying a new approach to science in the early grades, spreading Earth & Space Science concepts throughout the 8th, 9th, and 10th grades:

  • 8th grade: Physics
  • 9th grade: Chemistry
  • 10th grade: Biology
  • 11th and 12th grade: IB Science Courses.  (Currently, our school offers Physics SL; Chemistry SL/HL; Biology SL/HL; Sports, Exercise, and Health Science.)
  • 12th grade: Physics

I’m looking for ways to make this transition easier, to reflect on my personal practice, to collaborate with mathematics teachers, and to share useful educational artifacts that I’ve created.
